Job Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation during classroom instruction and school-related activities
  • Interpret spoken language into ASL and ASL into spoken English
  • Support Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students in academic, extracurricular, and school events
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to ensure effective communication
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the RID Code of Professional Conduct
  • Assist with Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings when required
  • Promote student independence while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and reports
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and school district accessibility regulations
