Special Education Aide/Behavior Therapist Job in Oxnard, CA

Overview

Job Responsibilities

• Assist teachers and therapy staff in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and behaviour intervention plans (BIPs).
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students with special needs, including academic, behavioural, and social skills assistance.
• Support students in managing and improving behavioural challenges through evidence-based strategies.
• Collect data on student behaviour and academic progress to assist in program evaluation and adjustments.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, including during transitions, meals, and outdoor activities.
• Model and reinforce positive behaviour, social interaction, and communication skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to develop and implement effective learning and behaviour strategies.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions and documentation.
• Assist with preparing classroom materials, setting up activities, and adapting instructional materials for student needs.
• Participate in staff training, meetings, and professional development opportunities as required.
