Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized instructional plans based on students' needs and IEP goals.
  • Provide specialized instruction and educational support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, classroom activities, and teaching strategies to promote accessible learning.
  • Use appropriate communication approaches, visual supports, assistive technology, and instructional resources based on student needs.
  • Implement accommodations, modifications, and differentiated instruction outlined in students' IEPs.
  • Monitor and document students' academic, communication, behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental progress.
  • Maintain accurate student records, progress reports, instructional documentation, and other required educational records.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development, implementation, and review of measurable student goals.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, administrators, interpreters, families, and related service providers.
  • Support students in developing communication skills, self-advocacy, confidence, independence, and positive social interactions.
  • Promote an inclusive, respectful, and accessible classroom environment where students can actively participate in learning.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, educational needs, and support strategies.
  • Follow school policies, professional standards, special education requirements, and applicable California regulations.
