Visually Impaired Teacher Job in Irvine, CA (SY 2026–27)

Overview

Job Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments based on their individual educational needs.
• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans and instructional strategies.
• Adapt curriculum, classroom materials, and learning activities to improve accessibility.
• Support students in developing academic, communication, organizational, and independent learning skills.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
• Assess student needs and monitor progress toward academic and functional goals.
• Provide instruction in appropriate strategies for accessing educational materials and classroom activities.
• Support the use of assistive technology, adaptive materials, and other educational tools when appropriate.
• Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, administrators, families, and related service providers.
• Provide recommendations regarding accommodations, accessible materials, and classroom supports.
• Maintain accurate student records, progress documentation, and required reports.
• Communicate with families and school staff regarding student progress and educational needs.
• Promote an inclusive, supportive, and accessible learning environment.
• Follow school policies, special education procedures, and applicable professional requirements.
