Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assessments based on individual student needs.
  • Assess fine motor, gross motor, visual-motor, sensory, functional, and school-related skills as appropriate.
  • Develop individualized occupational therapy goals and intervention plans.
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to eligible students individually or in small groups.
  • Implement therapeutic activities designed to support students' academic, functional, developmental, and participation needs.
  • Address areas such as fine motor coordination, handwriting, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, self-care, and classroom participation.
  • Develop and recommend appropriate accommodations, modifications, adaptive equipment, and environmental supports.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust intervention strategies based on assessment results and ongoing performance.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential therapy records, progress reports, service documentation, and other required records.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations related to occupational therapy goals, services, accommodations, and student needs.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers, general education teachers, administrators, families, and other related service providers.
  • Consult with educational staff regarding strategies that support students' independence, safety, participation, and access to instruction.
  • Communicate with families regarding student progress, occupational therapy services, and recommended strategies.
  • Follow professional standards, school policies, special education requirements, and applicable California regulations.
