Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized educational programs based on each student’s academic and communication needs.
  • Provide specialized instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in individual, small-group, or classroom settings.
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom activities to ensure accessible learning.
  • Use appropriate communication approaches, visual supports, assistive technology, and instructional strategies based on student needs.
  • Provide accommodations, modifications, and differentiated instruction to promote student access and participation.
  • Monitor and document students’ academic, communication, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional progress.
  • Use assessments, observations, and student data to adjust instruction and intervention strategies.
  • Maintain accurate IEP records, progress reports, instructional documentation, and other required educational records.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with families and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Work with general education teachers, interpreters, administrators, therapists, and other school professionals to support student success.
  • Promote communication skills, self-advocacy, confidence, independence, and positive social development.
  • Create a safe, respectful, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and educational needs.
  • Follow school policies, professional standards, special education requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Advocate for accessible educational opportunities and meaningful participation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
