Overview

Job Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and regularly review Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Provide specialized instruction based on the individual needs and goals of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
• Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, classroom activities, and teaching strategies to promote accessibility and participation.
• Use appropriate communication methods, instructional approaches, and educational supports based on student needs.
• Provide accommodations and modifications to support academic and classroom participation.
• Monitor students' academic, communication, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional progress.
• Maintain accurate student records, progress reports, and required educational documentation.
• Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and student support discussions.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, families, administrators, interpreters, and related service providers.
• Support students in developing language, communication, academic, and independent learning skills.
• Implement positive classroom and behavior-support strategies that encourage student engagement.
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and accessible learning environment.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and educational needs.
• Follow school policies, special education procedures, confidentiality requirements, and applicable California education standards.
