Overview

Job Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
• Provide specialized instruction aligned with students’ academic, communication, developmental, and functional goals.
• Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, classroom activities, and teaching strategies to support accessible learning.
• Use appropriate communication approaches and instructional strategies based on individual student needs.
• Provide accommodations, modifications, visual supports, and other appropriate learning resources.
• Monitor student academic, communication, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional progress.
• Maintain accurate student records, progress reports, instructional documentation, and IEP-related information.
• Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and other student support discussions.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, related service providers, interpreters, administrators, and families.
• Support students in developing communication skills, classroom participation, independence, and confidence.
• Create a structured, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, educational needs, and appropriate support strategies.
• Follow applicable special education requirements, school policies, and professional standards.
