Special Education Teacher Job in San Mateo, CA (SY 2026–2027)

Overview

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized instructional plans based on student needs.
• Provide specialized academic instruction in individual, small-group, and classroom settings.
• Implement and monitor students’ IEP goals and accommodations.
• Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and teaching strategies.
• Monitor, document, and evaluate student progress.
• Support students’ academic, behavioral, communication, and social-emotional development.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service professionals.
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Communicate with families regarding student progress and educational needs.
• Implement appropriate classroom management and positive behavioral support strategies.
• Maintain accurate student records and required documentation.
• Maintain a safe, structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
