Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized instructional plans aligned with students' IEP goals and educational needs.
  • Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in accordance with their individual learning requirements.
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, classroom activities, and learning resources to improve accessibility.
  • Provide or support the use of Braille, large-print, tactile materials, accessible digital resources, and assistive technology when appropriate.
  • Assess students' educational and functional needs and recommend appropriate instructional strategies and accommodations.
  • Implement accommodations, modifications, and differentiated instruction to support student participation and learning.
  • Monitor and document students' academic, developmental, functional, communication, and independence-related progress.
  • Maintain accurate student records, progress reports, instructional documentation, and other required educational records.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development, implementation, and review of measurable student goals.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, families, administrators, orientation and mobility professionals, and related service providers.
  • Support students in developing independence, self-advocacy, confidence, communication, and functional skills.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, accessible, and supportive learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, educational needs, and recommended supports.
  • Follow school policies, professional standards, special education requirements, and applicable California regulations.
