Job Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student needs and educational goals.
Provide specialized instruction designed to address the unique learning needs of students with visual impairments.
Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, classroom activities, and learning resources for accessibility.
Provide or support the use of Braille, large-print, tactile materials, assistive technology, and other appropriate instructional resources.
Assess student needs and select effective instructional strategies to promote academic and functional development.
Monitor and document students’ academic, developmental, functional, communication, and independence-related progress.
Maintain accurate educational records, progress reports, and required documentation.
Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and student support planning.
Collaborate with general education teachers, special education professionals, families, administrators, orientation and mobility specialists, and related service providers.
Recommend and implement appropriate accommodations, modifications, adaptive tools, and accessibility supports.
Support students in developing confidence, self-advocacy, independence, and effective participation in school activities.
Create a safe, inclusive, accessible, and supportive learning environment.
Communicate with families regarding student progress, educational needs, and recommended support strategies.
Follow school policies, special education requirements, confidentiality standards, and applicable educational guidelines.
