Job Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student needs and educational goals.
Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in appropriate educational settings.
Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, classroom activities, and learning resources to improve accessibility.
Support the use of Braille, assistive technology, tactile materials, and other appropriate instructional resources when applicable.
Provide accommodations and modifications that support students' academic and classroom participation.
Monitor academic, communication, functional, social-emotional, and independent learning progress.
Maintain accurate student records, progress documentation, and required educational reports.
Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary meetings, and student support planning.
Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, families, administrators, orientation and mobility professionals, and related service providers.
Support students in developing academic, communication, functional, and independent living skills.
Recommend instructional strategies and accessibility supports based on individual student needs.
Encourage student participation, confidence, self-advocacy, and independence in the school environment.
Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and accessible classroom setting.
Communicate effectively with families and school teams regarding student progress and educational needs.
Follow school policies, special education procedures, confidentiality requirements, and applicable California education standards.
