School Nurse Job in Irvine, CA (SY 2026–27)

Overview

Job Responsibilities

• Provide appropriate nursing care and health services to students in the school setting.
• Assess student health concerns, illnesses, injuries, and other medical needs.
• Respond appropriately to health-related incidents and emergencies according to established procedures.
• Administer medications and treatments as authorized and in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized student health plans when appropriate.
• Support students with chronic health conditions, disabilities, and other complex health needs.
• Monitor student health status and communicate relevant concerns to appropriate school staff and families.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student health records and nursing documentation.
• Coordinate with parents, guardians, healthcare providers, teachers, administrators, and related service professionals as appropriate.
• Support students in safely participating in classroom activities and the broader school environment.
• Provide health education and promote healthy habits, safety, and wellness among students.
• Participate in IEP or multidisciplinary meetings when appropriate to address student health-related needs.
• Provide guidance to school staff regarding student health and emergency procedures when appropriate.
• Follow school health policies, professional nursing standards, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Maintain student confidentiality and promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment.
