Special Education Aide / Behavior Therapist Job in Irvine, CA (SY 2026–27)

Overview

Job Responsibilities

• Provide individualized academic, behavioral, social, and classroom support to students with special needs.
• Assist students with classroom routines, transitions, assignments, and daily educational activities.
• Implement established behavioral strategies and interventions under the direction of qualified school professionals.
• Support students in developing communication, social, adaptive, and classroom participation skills.
• Reinforce positive behaviors using individualized behavior support strategies.
• Assist students in following classroom expectations and participating appropriately in learning activities.
• Collect and record student behavior, participation, and progress data as directed.
• Communicate observations and relevant student information to teachers and supervising professionals.
• Support the implementation of individualized education and behavior goals.
• Collaborate with special education teachers, behavior professionals, therapists, and other school staff.
• Assist students during individual, small-group, and classroom activities.
• Help maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment.
• Maintain required student documentation and follow established school procedures.
• Follow individualized support plans, safety procedures, and professional directions.
• Promote student independence, confidence, and positive participation in the school environment.
