Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care and health services to students during the school day.
  • Assess student health conditions, medical concerns, illnesses, and injuries.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to authorized healthcare orders and school policies.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized healthcare plans when required.
  • Monitor students with chronic health conditions and other ongoing medical needs.
  • Support students with disabilities and specialized healthcare requirements.
  • Respond appropriately to illnesses, injuries, medical emergencies, and first-aid situations.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date student health records and nursing documentation.
  • Communicate with parents, guardians, teachers, administrators, and healthcare providers regarding student health needs.
  • Collaborate with special education staff, related service providers, and multidisciplinary teams to support student participation and well-being.
  • Provide health education and promote healthy habits, wellness, safety, and preventive care.
  • Participate in IEP, student support, or multidisciplinary meetings when health-related input is needed.
  • Provide guidance to school staff regarding student health needs and appropriate emergency procedures when applicable.
  • Follow school health policies, professional nursing standards, confidentiality requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Promote a safe, supportive, inclusive, and health-conscious school environment.
