Special Education Aide / Behavior Therapist Job in San Rafael, CA

Overview

Job Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students during classroom activities, instructional tasks, and school routines.
• Assist students in following individualized academic, behavioral, communication, and functional goals.
• Implement behavior-support strategies and interventions under the direction of qualified school professionals.
• Reinforce positive behaviors, appropriate communication, social interaction, and classroom participation.
• Support students with academic tasks, transitions, daily routines, and other educational activities.
• Collect and record relevant student behavior, participation, and progress data as directed.
• Follow Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), classroom support plans, and other individualized strategies.
• Assist students in developing independence, self-regulation, communication, and functional skills.
• Work collaboratively with special education teachers, BCBAs, therapists, general education staff, and other members of the educational team.
• Provide consistent support during transitions, group activities, recess, and other school routines when required.
• Help maintain a safe, structured, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
• Communicate observations and relevant student progress information to supervising staff.
• Maintain student confidentiality and follow school policies, safety procedures, and professional guidelines.
• Encourage student engagement and participation while providing patient and respectful support.
