Job Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and small-group support to students with special education and diverse learning needs.
  • Assist teachers and certificated staff with classroom instruction, activities, assignments, and educational routines.
  • Support students in accessing curriculum, classroom materials, and learning activities according to their individual needs.
  • Reinforce academic, communication, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional skills under the direction of appropriate school staff.
  • Implement approved behavior support strategies and follow student behavior or intervention plans as directed.
  • Provide appropriate assistance during classroom routines, transitions, lunch, recess, and other school activities.
  • Support students with developing independence, self-regulation, communication, social interaction, and daily living skills when applicable.
  • Monitor and document student participation, behavior, progress, and other observations as requested by the supervising teacher.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers, general education teachers, related service providers, and other school personnel.
  • Provide appropriate supervision and support to students throughout the school day.
  • Maintain student confidentiality and follow school policies, safety procedures, and professional requirements.
  • Assist with preparing instructional materials and classroom resources as assigned.
